Rates:
Web setup, design and hosting is unique for all sites. What must be considered is Domain Registration, Setup/Design, and Monthly Hosting Fees.
Domain Registration
All sites need a domain name (your own "dot.com") reserved, which costs $15 a year. This can be arranged through Steven Law's Web Studio, however, if the domain was already reserved through a different source a transfer can be arranged.
Setup/Design
A free initial consultation must be arranged for this fee to be determined. This fee starts at $480 and is a one-time charge for initial setup and design of the site. The level of this charge depends on the number of pages, photos, and overall design time needed to prepare the site for publication to the Web. The base hourly rate is $80 per hour.
Monthly Hosting Fees
These fees are determined by the size of the site (number of pages and amount of Web space needed) and estimated number of updates needed per month. For example, an author has very few updates over a calendar year since their book releases are minimal. However, they may be on tour and require a frequently updated schedule to be posted. All these factors must be taken into consideration and determined before a monthly fee can be established. The fees are based on a monthly rate, but are typically paid on a quarterly or annual basis. The minimum monthly hosting fee is $38 per month.
Discounts
A 10% discount is offered to members of Western Writers of America (WWA), which applies to setup/design and monthly hosting fees. It does not apply to domain registration fees. For more information on becoming a member of WWA, go to www.westernwriters.org.
